has passed.

The Program Committee for the International Conference on HIV Treatment Adherence invites proposals for four 2-hour workshops to be held on April 5, 2009. Proposals must be submitted by October 17, 2008. Workshops are intended to be:
- Skills-building to help providers address adherence
- Hands-on sessions with specific learning objectives
- Teaching/disseminating a particular adherence intervention curriculum or program
- Review/discussion of a particular patient population and their adherence needs
- Reviews/recommendations regarding the implementation of an adherence research methodology
All proposals will be considered as long as the workshop’s objective is to enable the audience to gain skills and knowledge that are important to scientists and practitioners who hold interests in HIV treatment adherence and engagement in medical care.
Workshop presenters are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Two complimentary conference registrations will be provided to two presenters per workshop.
It is the responsibility of the proposal presenters to ensure accuracy of content, spelling, and presentation. Proposals will be evaluated as submitted, and the Program Committee may also solicit proposals.
Following are some general guidelines for individuals interested in submitting a proposal:
- Acceptable proposals shall contain a concise title, define the precise subject of the presentation, and be related to the main theme or a sub-theme of the conference.
- The proposal author is responsible for all grammatical and factual details. No revisions will be accepted after the initial
submission.
- All proposals must be submitted in English. If you are not fluent in English, please attempt to have your proposal
reviewed by a fluent English speaker.
- The interdisciplinary nature of the conference delegates
should be kept in mind when during the workshops, and sub-specialty jargon should be avoided.
- Define all abbreviations and concepts in your proposal at first use.
- For therapeutic agents, only generic names may be used (trade names are not permitted).
Please follow the structured format detailed below, clearly indicating in bold the various parts of your proposal:
- Title of Workshop: a clear concise statement of the topic
- Presenter(s) Information: list name, affiliation, email, fax and telephone number for all presenters, listing the primary contact first
- Purpose: a one-sentence statement of purpose for the workshop
- Objectives: list the specific workshop learning objectives
- Outline: provide an outline of the workshop including the role of presenters if more than one is listed
- Interactive Elements: if any, describe aspects of the workshop that would be interactive or hands-on (as opposed to didactic instruction/information provision)
- Audience: identify the target audience and the background (experience/education) attendees should possess
- Audience Size: identify the maximum number of attendees, if any
- Materials: describe the materials to be provided to attendees
- Meeting Room: describe the needs for audio-visual equipment and room set-up
- Presenter(s): provide CV’s of all presenters, and a brief explanation of how the presenters are qualified to conduct the workshop
All proposals must be submitted via the IAPAC website no later than
October 17, 2008. All submissions will be acknowledged upon successful submission. Faxed or mailed proposals will not be considered.
The Program Committee will review all proposals using the following criteria:
- clarity of workshop objectives
- value of the topic to the field of HIV treatment adherence science and practice
- likelihood that the approach to presenting will impart knowledge successfully
- relevant background of presenters
- lack of redundancy with recently presented workshops and with other workshops presented concurrently
Workshop Proposals may be withdrawn or the presenter may be changed no later then March 1, 2009.
Workshop presenters agree to register for and attend the conference, presenting workshops as scheduled. Portions of each selected Workshop Proposal will be published in the conference proceedings. Workshop Proposals are considered official communication to IAPAC. Submission of a Proposal implies permission to publish, and online posting, if accepted. A copy of any electronic presentation and handouts will be transferred to IAPAC.
A notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent via e-mail no later than December 5, 2008. It is anticipated that four Workshop Proposals will be selected.
