An editorial authored by IAPAC and Global Commission on Drug Policy representatives and released on the eve of the 2016 UN General Assembly Special Session on the World Drug Problem calls for UN member-states to take into account the heavy toll people who use drugs and those living with HIV pay due to discriminatory drug policies as they deliberate April 19-21, 2016. An IAPAC-led research team analyzed spending on HIV care and treatment in 38 high HIV burden low- and middle-income countries; the results of their study were released on World AIDS Day 2015 (December 1, 2015) in advance of their January/February 2016 publication in JIAPAC. IAPAC launched a new web portal – HIVPolicyWatch.org – on July 17, 2015, that provides end users immediate access to published guidelines and recommendations containing HIV policies from 149 countries representing approximately 90% of the people living with HIV worldwide. IAPAC announced its unequivocal support January 9, 2014, for the nomination of Deborah Birx, MD, to serve as the next US Global AIDS Coordinator. In response to the need to facilitate the integration of HCV management into primary care settings in the United States, IAPAC announced a partnership with The Alliance of Chicago and the National Association of Community Health Centers to pilot an EHR-based approach to HCV clinical management in community health center settings.
